The North Bay Indigenous Hub (NBIH) primary focus is to improve access to traditional and culturally safe care for the Indigenous community of North Bay and for three partner First Nations – Nipissing First Nation, Dokis First Nation & Temagami First Nation.
All services will be available to First Nations, Inuit, Métis people, without distinction of status, non-status, or residence.
The intent is to complement & improve service coordination and collaboration across municipal, Indigenous, provincial, and/or federally funded health care and early childhood development & learning for the Indigenous population..
North Bay Indigenous Working Group in collaboration with the District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board completed a successful application for the development of an Indigenous Child Care and EarlyON Centre.
Planning Group with representatives from Dokis First Nation and the North Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre completed a successful joint proposal for an Indigenous Interprofessional Primary Care Team to serve the Nipissing/Temiskaming Region.
Since both projects required Indigenous governance and leadership, both groups discussed to proceed jointly in the development of a single agency, the North Bay Indigenous Hub.
Dr. MacDougall Public School was identified as the best location and the redevelopment is underway, Completion is scheduled for December 2019.

📢 Introducing the Models of Care (MofC) Project
We are proud to launch the Models of Care: Creating Easier Pathways to Flourishing Health and Wellbeing for Indigenous People project. This initiative is designed to develop culturally responsive healthcare pathways and strengthen relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous healthcare providers in the Districts of Nipissing and Parry Sound.
Through this project, we aim to enhance access to services, improve healthcare experiences for Indigenous children, youth, and families, and provide sector-wide Indigenous Cultural Safety (ICS) training.
